New Westminster – On April 9th the New Westminster Police Department arrested four suspects after a call to 9-1-1 about multiple males with firearms on Alexander Street. When the 9-1-1 call was made at approximately 5:45 pm, New Westminster Police Department officers and Metro Vancouver Transit Police Officers attended the scene and learned an altercation took place before the people involved fled the area.
Within approximately one hour, officers arrested three individuals matching the suspect descriptions. That same evening police arrested a fourth individual. Police recovered a can of bear spray and charges related to assault with a weapon are being considered.
“We’d like to thank the person who called 9-1-1,” stated Sergeant Andrew Leaver. “If you ever see anything that causes you concern for the safety of others we ask that you make the call. We’re here for you.”
